Go Big Brown!

This horse has the opportunity to be the first triple crown winner in 30 years

He easily won the Kentucky Derby, & the Preakness, & now has his sights set on the Belmont Stakes.

Very impressive horse.

RE: Go Big Brown!

He is definitely impressive! I hope he has enough stamina to go all the way. The last Triple Crown winner was Affirmed in 1978, if Big Brown can do it he will end the 30 year drought. A lot of people have compared him to Secretariat and it is very possible that he can beat Secretariat's time at the Belmont. No horse has ever done that, Go Big Brown!

RE: Go Big Brown!

Horse racing needs a Triple Crown this year more than any other year in history after the Eight Belles tragedy at the Derby.

I really hope Big Brown can pull it off.

RE: Go Big Brown!

Yeah, what happened to Eight Belles was a real shame, first of her kind to run there in about 30 years also.

What gets me about Big Brown is you can tell that at the end of these first two races he was just getting warmed up.

He was not winded at all.

RE: Go Big Brown!

My daughter cried her eyes out when Eight Belles went down. She was a little nervous watching the Preakness, thank goodness nothing bad happened. Big Brown has had the stamina so far, but the Belmont is 1.50 miles. IMO, I think he can, hopefully he will get a good gate start and the jockey, Kent Desormeaux, can position him where he needs to be. I know this race is going to be exciting!

RE: Go Big Brown!

after the heartbreak of Smarty Jones' close call, I no longer get my hopes up for a triple crown winner...

seeing so many great horses get close but fall short makes you really appreciate the previous triple crown winners and how dominant they were in all facets of racing...its the human equivalent of winning a 100-yd dash, a 1100-meter race, and a marathon, all on different surfaces...

RE: Go Big Brown!

Belmont Stakes is not until June 7th, Big Brown will have plenty of time to get ready, few days off shouldn't hurt him. Trainer said it was minor, biggest problem would be if crack gets worse. They will take wire and stitch the crack together, put a fiberglass reinforced patch on and he should be back practicing by Wednesday or Thursday.

RE: Go Big Brown!

It feels like every year a horse is one away from winning the Triple Crown and then blows it in the third race.

RE: Go Big Brown!

As much as I'd like to see a triple crown winner, I don't want to see them put the horse in any kind of life threatening situation.

Hopefully everything will work out.

When it comes to horse racing, it happens all the time. Most owners and trainers are in it for the money 1st, horse 2nd. If the horse has good bloodlines or has any potential the horse is insured.
Big Brown is back on the track today, we'll see if they rushed him or not.
